Treat attendance as a controlled payroll input

Clock-ins matter only when they become reliable payroll events. Preserve schedules, actual time, approved overtime, late and undertime, rest days, holiday classifications, and eligible night hours—then pass only reviewed records into calculation.

Keep the devices and DTR process you already use

Start with your current biometric device or spreadsheet workflow. Import CSV/XLSX, save the mapping, and review exceptions before payroll. Add direct integrations later where they create real operational value.

Import

CSV, XLSX and exported DTR files.

Validate

Missing punches, impossible hours, duplicate records and unapproved OT.

Approve

Lock the attendance version used by payroll.

The attendance events payroll actually needs

OT hoursPremium calculation after approval
Night hoursNight differential calculation
Holiday/rest-day typeCorrect premium multiplier
Leave/official businessPrevents false absence deductions

Exception-first timekeeping review

Payroll teams should not manually inspect every punch. The system should show only records that need human judgment: a missing time-out, OT without approval, conflicting shift assignment, excessive hours, or a holiday worked without the correct event type. Once reviewed, payroll consumes that locked attendance version.

Connect timekeeping to HRIS and payroll

The employee schedule and status come from HRIS, timekeeping produces approved attendance events, and the payroll engine calculates earnings and deductions. That separation keeps each layer explainable while avoiding repeated encoding.

Frequently asked questions

Can it work with biometric devices?

The launch approach is file- and integration-first. If a biometric device can export a structured file, it can be mapped into the workflow. Direct API/device integrations can follow for the systems used most by beta customers.

Can it calculate overtime automatically?

The payroll engine can calculate premium amounts when it receives approved hours, rate basis and the correct day classification. Attendance approval should happen before payroll calculation.

What about night differential and holidays?

Timekeeping must preserve eligible night hours and the correct holiday/rest-day classification so payroll can apply the appropriate rules instead of receiving only a final peso adjustment.

Can employees correct missing punches?

A production self-service workflow should let employees submit corrections while preserving the original record, reason, approver and final approved event.

Why not just use Excel?

Excel can work for small teams, but recurring imports, validation, approvals and immutable attendance snapshots reduce the risk of silent formula or row-level changes.
